Creating your new community: An active, outdoor lifestyle

Connection, community and conservation… As Echuca’s only masterplanned community, the focus at Yallarah is on living an active, outdoor lifestyle. For Wel.Co’s landscape architecture partners Tract, that meant designing a series of outdoor spaces that not only brought the community together, but also protected the natural landscape of the region.

“Echuca has this beautiful, rich character as soon as you drive in and it’s spectacular. It’s breathtaking,” says Tract’s Principal Architect Melissa Vukovic. “There’s a thriving community, and it’s a nice place to be.”

With an abundance of open green space, the vision for Yallarah is to create a network of open space where residents can get together and enjoy.

“We’ve got playgrounds and sports ovals. We would like to incorporate things like bocce and things that community groups of all ages can do.

“There is something quite special about the site. And we’ve really tried to highlight how special a place it is.”

See how open spaces and parkland are key features of Yallarah’s masterplan, and don’t forget to look out for future videos to hear from those who are involved in the community and bringing it to life.
